A little research and knowledge of your Jet Ski or Fiberglass boat repair can go a long way. It’s easy to research DIY fiberglass repairs on the ol’ internet. So before you run to the hardware store there are some things to consider about jet ski and boat minor repairs. First, let’s consider the hull. The hull is made out of fiberglass, similar to what you’ll see with RV’s and motorhomes. Fiberglass is strong and durable material, and if you’ve worked with it or attempted a repair yourself, I’m sure you’ll attest it’s tricky and takes some patience to buff out scratches or mend holes.
Secondly, there is another layer of resin coating the fiberglass called the “gel coat”. It’s the layer that seals the Jetski or boat and gives it extra durability and that pretty shine. Scratches will involve working with this material as well and add another dimension of skill and understanding. This includes color matching and sanding. Just a couple of tips to consider before you DIY. Call us at Interstate Autobody and Truck and we’ll give you a free estimate. What can be a frustrating project for you may be a one day inexpensive and fast repair for us, and we’ll have you back on the water in no time!
